Ingredients
  

  • 2 inches fresh ginger root thinly sliced
  • 1 medium lemon half juiced and half sliced
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 1-2 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup optional
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 sprig fresh mint optional

Method
 

  1. Wash and thinly slice ginger; peeling is optional for organic roots.
  2. Bring 2 cups filtered water to a gentle simmer in a saucepan (180-190°F).
  3. Add ginger and simmer gently for 5-10 minutes, covered.
  4. Remove from heat, add lemon juice and slices, cover and steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain tea into a mug; add honey or maple syrup if desired (around 120°F).
  6. Enhance with cinnamon, cayenne, or mint to suit your goals and taste.
