- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 1 large head savoy cabbage
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Prep savoy cabbage: core, separate, and rinse leaves.
- Blanch cabbage leaves for 2–3 minutes, then transfer to ice bath. Pat dry.
- Sauté onion in olive oil for 4–5 minutes, add garlic, then ground beef. Cook until browned, season with salt, pepper, paprika.
- Add tomato paste, cook 1 minute. Stir in tomatoes, broth, Worcestershire, and thyme. Simmer 5–7 minutes.
- Layer half the cabbage in dish. Spread beef mixture evenly, top with remaining cabbage.
- Combine cheese, breadcrumbs, and parsley. Sprinkle over top.
- Cover with foil and bake 35 minutes. Uncover and bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbling.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
