Description

Rich, creamy, and irresistibly crunchy — this millionaire chicken casserole delivers restaurant-quality comfort food in just 50 minutes, perfect for family dinners or guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the creamy chicken base:
  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the crispy topping:
  • 2 cups Ritz crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, cream cheese, sour cream, and cottage cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
  3. Stir in chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Fold in shredded chicken until evenly coated.
  5. Spread mixture into prepared dish and tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. In a bowl, mix crushed Ritz crackers, melted butter, and poppy seeds until evenly coated.
  7. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over chicken layer, then top with cracker mixture.
  8. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until bubbly and golden. Loosely cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  9. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving to set and enhance flavor.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients and crush crackers to varied sizes for the best topping texture. Letting the casserole rest is key to perfect consistency.
